STILLWATER– On Wednesday afternoon at Greenwood Tennis Center, Arizona State men’s tennis was represented by two more wins in the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships. Junior #11 Murphy Cassone made quick work of Illinois’ #26 Karlis Ozolins in just 51 minutes, and followed his singles win with a doubles dub alongside partner Jacob Bullard. They defeated Princeton’s duo in#32 Filippos Astreinidis/Paul Inchauspe, notching seven aces in the victory.
Yesterday Cassone earned singles All-American honors for the second straight season after advancing to the Sweet 16, and today he and Bullard were named doubles All-Americans after advancing to the quarterfinal round.
Prior to Cassone’s two All-American nods in 2023 and 2024, the program had not had an All-American since Jeff Williams and Ed Carter were named doubles All-Americans in 1999. Cassone is just the third player in program history to earn multiple singles All-American honors, and is the first player to earn both singles and doubles All-American honors since Sargis Sargsian in 1994.
