BOULDER — The University of Colorado women’s tennis announced six competitions this week for the upcoming 2022 fall season.
The Buffaloes will begin in San Francisco at the Battle In The Bay Classic before heading south for the San Diego USTA Intercollegiate. CU will then compete at the ITA All-American Championships and the Colorado State Invite at the end of September before competing in the ITA Mountain Regional Championships. Colorado ends the fall season in the Colorado Cup the first week of November.
Colorado enters the second season under head coach Anthony Pham, who returns four players from last years squad. Antonia Balzert and Ellen Puzak are the returning upperclassmen along with sophomores Mila Stanojevic and Betina Tokac. Colorado all added four signees, two true freshmen in Carri Hayes and Anya Nelson along with a pair of transfers in Aya El Sayed and Elys Ventura.
“This fall, we are excited to give our student-athletes the opportunity to compete against some of the best collegiate players in the country,” said Pham. “The ladies have done a really nice job with coming out of the gates strong in training and fitness. We will continue to be hyper-focused on daily development in order to prepare ourselves for the rigors of a competitive spring schedule.”
The season begins Sept. 22 in San Francisco where the Buffs sent four upperclassmen last season. The team will hope to return to the ITA All-American Championships after sending three athletes last season, but will have the entire squad competing either there or at CSU.
The first two trips to California also provide an opportunity for the Buffs as the winner of the tournaments will earn a wildcard into professional tournaments.
