Buckeye Spring Schedule Announced – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The 2023 spring slate for the Ohio State women’s tennis team features 12 matches against 2022 NCAA Tournament teams, including 10 in nonconference play. Six of the Buckeyes’ nonconference foes were Top 16 seeds in last year’s NCAA team championship – No. 2 Oklahoma, No. 6 NC State, No. 7 Texas A&M, No. 7 Pepperdine, No. 12 Oklahoma State and No. 14 Georgia; five of those matchups will be in Columbus in 2023. In all, the Buckeyes will host 13 matches in Columbus, starting in February vs. 2022 NCAA runner-up Oklahoma, followed by ITA Kickoff Weekend action.

Home matches will be played inside the Ty Tucker Tennis Center or on the outdoor courts in the Auer Tennis Complex. Admission is free to all regular season matches, with parking free on match day.

The Buckeyes will again open January competition at the Michigan Invite, an individual hidden dual tournament, Jan. 13-15 in Ann Arbor. After a dual match vs. last year’s NCAA runner-up Oklahoma Jan. 22 to start dual play, Ohio State will host ITA Kickoff Weekend matches Jan. 27-29. The Buckeyes will take on Old Dominion in the first round, with Wake Forest and Tennessee facing off in the other first round match. The winners and losers will meet on day two, with the site champion advancing to the ITA National Team Indoor Championship, set for Feb. 10-13 in Seattle, Wash.

The first weekend of February, Feb. 2 and 4, brings home matches vs. Oklahoma State and Georgia, and Arizona State and NC State will visit Feb. 19 and 22, respectively. Ohio State will wrap up the month Feb. 26 when it faces Texas A&M at the USTA National Campus in Lake Nona, Fla.

After opening Big Ten play at home vs. Penn State March 4, the Buckeyes will head to California for matches against UCLA March 12 and Pepperdine March 14. Three B1G matches in Columbus follow, as the Buckeyes will host Wisconsin March 17, Minnesota March 19 and Purdue March 24. Ohio State will play at Northwestern, an NCAA Tournament team last year, March 26.

April starts with three home matches. A nonconference matchup with Kentucky is set for April 5 before the Buckeyes take on Big Ten foes Nebraska (April 7) and Iowa (April 9). The B1G slate will close with four road matches in a row, as Ohio State will play at Michigan State April 14, at 2022 NCAA Tournament team Michigan April 16, at Rutgers April 22 and at Maryland April 23.
