COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s tennis team will host the Buckeye Invitational Friday through Sunday in Columbus. Matches will be either inside the Ty Tucker Tennis Center or outside at the Auer Tennis Complex, depending on weather.
Play is slated to start at 12:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and at 11 a.m. Sunday; a complete schedule will be available later this week. Admission is free.
Joining Ohio State this weekend will be players from Penn State, Xavier, Michigan and Kentucky.
Each day will feature doubles and singles, set up in a hidden dual format. Teams will face off in two doubles matches and four singles matches.
Buckeye This and That
- Irina Cantos Siemers was selected by the officials and coaches as the recipient of the Sportsmanship Award at the ITA All-American Championships last week in Cary, N.C.
- On the court, Cantos Siemers and Sydni Ratliff reached the doubles consolation final at ITA All-Americans, posting three wins in a row after dropping their opening match in the 32-team doubles draw.
- In singles, Cantos Siemers, the nation’s 10th-ranked player, won in the first round of the singles draw before falling in the second round.
- Ratliff and Cantos Siemers lead the Buckeyes with four singles wins this fall, while Kolie Allen is next with three.
The Remaining Fall Slate
- Next week the ITA Midwest Regional Championships will be held in Ann Arbor, Mich., starting Oct. 20.
- Fall competition wraps up the first week of November. Buckeyes will compete in the ITA Fall Championships in San Diego, Calif., starting Nov. 2 and the ASU Thunderbird Invitationl in Tempe, Ariz., starting Nov. 4.
