Bryzgalova Nets 100th Win; Duke Defeats No. 14 NCSU, 4-3

RALEIGH, N.C.– Duke women’s tennis graduate student Iuliia Bryzgalova collected her 100th career victory on Sunday to help lead the 23rd-ranked Blue Devils to a 4-3 road victory at 14th-ranked NC State at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center in Raleigh, N.C.
 
The Blue Devils closed the weekend with a pair of ranked wins against the No. 14 Wolfpack and No. 31 Demon Deacons to improve to 12-5 overall and 5-3 in ACC action.  It also marked Duke’s second top-15 win of the season.  NC State fell to 15-5, 5-2 in the ACC and suffered its first home loss of the season.
 
How It Happened

  • In doubles action, the Wolfpack went ahead early by taking courts one and two to go ahead, 1-0.
  • NC State’s 13th-ranked Amelia Rajecki and Maddy Zampardo collected a 6-4 victory over Shavit Kimchi and Katie Codd on court one.
  • The doubles point was clinched on court two as the 10th-ranked Wolfpack duo of Sophie Abrams and Anna Zyryanova totaled a 6-2 win over Emma Jackson and Karolina Berankova.
  • Duke’s Brianna Shvets and Iuliia Bryzgalova were leading, 4-3, when the doubles point was clinched against Gabriella Broadfoot and Abigail Rencheli.
  • In singles action, NC State took court six as Zampardo totaled a 6-3, 6-2 win over Berankova to go ahead, 2-0.
