Bryzgalova Enters Rankings; Blue Devils with Five Singles Players Listed

DURHAM – Coming off a pair of ranked wins over her last two matches, Duke graduate student Iuliia Bryzgalova entered the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) singles rankings this week at No. 88 nationally.

Along with Bryzgalova, Duke features four other Blue Devils ranked in singles – Shavit Kimchi (#69), Emma Jackson (#82), Ellie Coleman (#89) and Katie Codd (#101).

A native of Moscow, Russia, Bryzgalova is currently riding a six-match winning streak since being moved to the No. 3 singles slot.  She owns a 9-2 record in dual match action and 6-1 in ACC play this spring.  Bryzgalova recently became the 28th Blue Devil to reach the 100-win singles mark and also reached the 100-win doubles ledger.

Both Jackson and Codd lead Duke with 16 wins each, while Kimchi owns 15 for the Blue Devils.

As a team, Duke moved to No. 20 nationally in the team rankings with a 12-6 overall and 5-4 ACC ledger.  The Blue Devils have won six out of the last eight matches.

Up next for the Blue Devils will be Virginia Tech on Friday, April 5 at 5 p.m., at Ambler Tennis Stadium in Durham.
