Brown, Miller Named ITA All-Americans

ANN ARBOR, Mich.Jaedan Brown and Kari Miller of the University of Michigan women’s tennis team officially earned All-America honors from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association on Monday afternoon (June 5). Brown earned the honor in doubles, with Miller grabbing both singles and doubles citations.

Miller is the fourth Wolverine to earn the honor in both singles and doubles in the same season, joining Denise Muresan (2011), Brienne Minor (2016) and Kate Fahey (2019). Miller made a run to the NCAA Singles Championship quarterfinals before falling to the eventual national champion. She ended her junior season ranked No. 31 in singles after putting together a 21-13 overall record. Miller, who earned All-Big Ten honors for the third straight season, went 13-4 in dual-match action at the two top spots in the lineup. She is the first Wolverine to earn singles All-America honors since 2019 in picking up the first honor of her career.

Brown and Miller teamed up to earn the doubles honor, also making a run to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Doubles Championship and ending the season ranked No. 4 by the ITA. The pair played together all through the fall season, finishing runner-up at the ITA All-American. Miller and Brown finished with a 24-8 overall record, going 8-5 at the top of the lineup in dual matches. Individually, they each won 31 doubles matches to tie for the team lead. Brown also finished ranked No. 89 in doubles with Andrea Cerdan after stringing together a 7-2 record at the top of the lineup after a switch in April.

They are the ninth and 10th different Wolverines to earn All-America honors in their careers.

ITA All-America honors are achieved in singles by reaching the round of 16, earning a top-16 seed or finishing in the top 20 of the final singles rankings. To earn the honor in doubles, a team must make the quarterfinals, earn a top-eight seed or finish in the top 10 of the final doubles rankings.

Michigan wrapped up the 2022-23 season with a 25-4 overall record after advancing to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament. The Wolverines finished the season with a No. 6 team ranking, the highest season-ending ranking…
