A corruption charge has paused Maxence Broville’s tennis career.

French player Broville has been provisionally suspended since June 20th pending resolution of a corruption charge, the International Tennis Integrity Agency announced today.

The provisional suspension means Broville cannot play or attend any tournament sanctioned by the game’s governing bodies.

The provisional suspension was imposed under Sections F.3.b.i.1 and F.3.b.i.4 of the TACP. F.3.b.i.1:

The Covered Person has failed to comply with a Demand.’ F.3.b.i.4: There is a likelihood that the Covered Person has committed a Major Offense and in the absence of a Provisional Suspension, the integrity of tennis would be undermined and the harm resulting from the absence of a Provisional Suspension outweighs the Hardship of the Provisional Suspension on the Covered Person.

Broville’s appeal of the suspension was dismissed by an anti-corruption hearing officer on September 5th.

The 24-year-old Broville reached a career-high singles rank of No. 708 last June and has served as a hitting partner for some stars.
