Boilers Lose to Ranked Illinois


WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Purdue men’s tennis team fell to No. 22 Illinois Fighting Illini on Friday, bringing their conference record to 0-2.

There was not much to tell of the match between the two Big Ten opponents. No. 22 Illinois opened the day with a win in doubles at No. 2 and 3. Danield Labrador/Tomasz Dudek led their match against the Illini 4-3 before the point was clinched and their match cut off. The tandem is 5-4 with two matches left unfinished.

With both teams playing clinch, it was a race to 4 for the Illini. They secured their first win at No. 3. Mujtaba Ali-Khan dropped his sixth match of the season at the position. 

Milledge Cossu and Hassan Baroudi both fell in straight sets to give Illinois their second win in Big Ten play.
