Boilers Finish Strong in Loss to Broncos

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind.- The Purdue men’s tennis team was narrowly defeated by the Western Michigan Broncos. The 3-4 decision gave the Boilers their third loss of the season.

The match got off to a chaotic start when the Broncos quickly took the doubles point. Purdue ushered in a familiar face as senior, Sebastian Welch made his spring debut at doubles No. 1.

Western Michigan was able to run away with the match after taking a 4-0 lead with singles victories at No. 6, 3, and 5.

Despite the loss, the Boilermakers were not ready to give up the fight. Purdue was able to rally back and win the final three points of the match. Michal Wozniak, Mujtaba Ali-Khan, and Labrador all won in three sets to close out the match.

Ali-Khan and Labrador both battled back from a set down to give the Boilers their first two points while Wozniak brought the match to a close. His runaway 6-3 decision in the final set propelled him to his second win of the spring.
