IOWA CITY, Iowa – After playing a match earlier than expected due to the weather, Purdue lost to Iowa 4-0.
Freshman Kennedy Gibbs and sophomore Juana Larranaga pulled off a strong win at No. 3 in doubles. The pair secured a 6-2 win over Barbora Pokorna and Pia Kranholdt from Iowa snapping a two-match losing streak. Gibbs and Larranaga have spent the whole season as a doubles team and have secured 11 wins together.
In singles, the Boilermakers put together some impressive sets. After losing her first set 6-2 at No. 5, Gibbs came back to win the second 6-4 and was in the middle of a third set when play was halted. Senior Csilla Fodor won her first set at No. 2through a 7-3 tiebreak and at No. 1 redshirt senior Liz Norman came back after losing her first set to then lead in the second when the match came to an end.
