THE FLATS – Coming off a successful 2022-23 season, Georgia Tech’s Carol Lee and Kylie Bilchev were awarded All-Atlantic Coast Conference honors on Friday. Lee lead the way on the first team, while Bilchev collected second-team recognition.
A 2023 ITA All-American in singles, Lee led Georgia Tech from the No. 1 position all season, compiling a 29-12 overall singles record. She went 17-7 in dual singles matches and earned an individual bid to the NCAA Singles Championship as a top-16 seed. The Yellow Jacket made a run to the quarterfinals in her second appearance in the individual championships. Lee climbed as high as No. 7 nationally in the singles rankings and finished the season ranked No. 14, earning her second all-ACC first team recognition.
Joining Lee on the postseason awards list, Bilchev produced a 27-8 overall singles record and a 20-13 overall doubles mark. The Jacket held down the No. 2 singles position, going 20-4 in dual singles action, including a 10-2 mark against ACC opponents. Bilchev also represented Georgia Tech in the NCAA Singles Championship, making her first appearance in 2023. Bilchev spent the entire spring season ranked in the top 50 nationally and climbed as high as No. 23 in the ITA singles rankings.
In doubles action, Bilchev partnered with teammate Alejandra Cruz to go 19-12 overall. The pair were ranked as high as No. 69 in the ITA doubles rankings during the season.
Georgia Tech was one of five schools with multiple student-athletes receiving all-ACC singles accolades. North Carolina, the 2023 National Champion, led the way with five honorees. UNC’s Fiona Crawley was tabbed the 2023 Player of the Year, while NC State’s Diana Shnaider collected Freshman of the Year honors. The 2023 Coach of the Year was awarded to NC State’s Simon Earnshaw.
