Theo Dean heads to Oklahoma to play in the ITA All-American Championships, which start Saturday.

After a strong performance at the Battle in the Bay Classic, the California men’s tennis team sends Golden Bears to compete in the ITA All-American Championships and Sherwood Collegiate Cup. Alex Chang, Derrick Chen, Theo Dean, Carl Emil Overbeck, Timofey Stepanov and Mikey Wright will play at All-Americans, through which players can qualify for the NCAA individual championships. Chang – pulling double duty – Alex Aney, Jonathan Irwanto and Ethan Schiffman will play in the Southern California tournament.
 
In the Sherwood Collegiate Cup, which starts Friday, players from nine teams – Cal, BYU, LMU, New Mexico, Pacific, Pepperdine, SMU, UCLA and USC – will battle in singles and doubles.
 

The ITA All-American Championships, which begin Saturday, will have a draw size of the following, Singles: Pre-Qualifying (128), qualifying (64), main draw (64) and Doubles: Pre-Qualifying (32), qualifying (32), main draw (32). From this, 10 singles players will qualify for the NCAA Singles Championship (eight main draw quarterfinalists & two feed-in consolation finalists), while four doubles teams will qualify for the NCAA Doubles Championship through the All-American Championships (four main draw semifinalists). Pre-qualifying takes place Friday and Saturday, qualifying runs Sunday and Monday and the main draws are slated for Sept. 25-29.
