WACO, Texas – Michigan State men’s tennis junior Ozan Baris earned his spot in the quarterfinals at the NCAA Individual Championships, knocking off Pedro Vives Marcos of TCU Round of 16 in a hard-fought three-set match, 6-7 (4), 6-4, 6-2.
Baris secured his place in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Individual Championship for the second consecutive year, demonstrating his consistent skill and determination.
In Thursday’s Sweet Sixteen match, Baris took on Pedro Vives Marcos (TCU). Baris defeated Vives Marcos in three sets, 6-7(4), 6-4, 6-2. The first set was tightly contested, going to a tiebreaker where Vives Marcos beat out Baris 7-6 (4). Baris, however, bounced back to take the second set 6-4, leveling the match. In the decisive third set, Baris maintained his momentum and overpowered Vives with a 6-2 win, securing the victory.
Baris will play Jay Friend (Arizona) in the quarterfinals on Friday at 11 a.m. ET/ 10 a.m. CT.
