MADISON, Wis. – The No. 29 Wisconsin women’s tennis team now has 11-straight wins after defeating Nebraska, 4-0, today, March 21, inside Nielsen Tennis Stadium.
With 11-straight wins, the team ties its longest win streak, which was set during the 1996 season.
At No. 2 doubles, Taylor Cataldi and Rosie Garcia Gross breezed through their set, taking down the Cornhuskers 6-3. The clinching point for doubles came down to a nail-biter, with the two remaining pairs forcing extra games. Maria Sholokhova and Xinyu Cai pulled through to secure the victory, 7-5.
Ariel Johnson was the first singles player off the court, recording scores of 6-2 and 6-3. Garcia Gross was the deciding match, winning her first, and making a comeback in the second to clinch, 6-4.
