Badgers blank the Tribe, 4-0

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The No. 29 women’s tennis team defeated William & Mary, 4-0, in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on the campus of UNC today, May 3.
From the start, Wisconsin was hungry for the win. Ellison Reynoldson and Xinyu Cai were the first off the court, defeating their foes 6-2. No. 40 Alina Mukhortova and Maria Sholokhova were the closers for the the Badgers, securing the point with a 6-4 set.
Singles was no issue for the Badgers. They claimed all but one first sets, and cliched points at No. 1, 3, and 4.

Doubles

No. 40 Sholokhova/Mukhortova def. Fernald/Chen 6-4

Reynoldson/Cai def. Anghel/Stange: 6-2

Mejic/Davis retired Garcia Gross/Cataldi: 6-5

Singles

No. 82 Maria Sholokhova def. Gurholt: 6-2, 6-2

Taylor Cataldi retied Chen: 6-2

Alina Mukhortova def. Mejic: 6-1, 6-3

Xinyu Cai def. Anghel: 6-1, 6-2

Ariel Johnson retired Stange: 6-6

Rosie Garcia Gross retired Davis: 6-4
