TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama women’s tennis program defeated Memphis inside the Roberta Alison Baumgardner Tennis Facility to secure its second-straight win of the season.
After dropping the doubles point to Memphis, Alabama responded with force in singles play by winning four matches. UA posted wins on courts six, five and one, respectively, to take a 3-1 advantage. Memphis responded with a victory on court three, but Petra Sedlackova clinched the match off a three-set battle on court two.
The Match
- Memphis jumped out to an early lead, winning doubles matches on courts one and three, respectively
- Loudmilla Bencheikh and Ola Pitak were leading 5-4 when the doubles point was clinched
- Anne Marie Hiser tied the score at 1-1 with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Dolavee Tumthong on court six
- Klara Milicevic’s win (6-3, 6-1) on court five against Micah Pierce and Bencheikh’s win on court one (6-1, 6-4) against Aran Teixido Garcia made it a 3-1 Alabama advantage
- A Tiger victory on court three brought the overall score 3-2, but the Tide would clinch the match off a three-set, 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 win from Petra Sedalkova on court two over Monique Woog
