Alabama Sends Three to ITA National Fall Championships, Opens Georgia Tech Invite


TUSCALOOSA, Ala. –– Alabama will send three student-athletes to the ITA National Fall Championships in San Diego, Calif., Wednesday, while the remaining members of the Crimson Tide tennis team head to Atlanta for the Georgia Tech Invite on Friday.

ITA Fall National Championships

Georgia Tech Invite

  • Date: Nov. 3-5
  • Time: 7 a.m. CT
  • Location: Atlanta
  • Venue: Ken Byers Tennis Complex

The ITA National Fall Championships

  • Enzo Aguiard is set to represent Alabama in the singles tournament, while Filip Planinsek and Andrii Zimnokh contend on the doubles side of the tournament
  • Aguiard and Planinsek are making return trips to the national event after winning their second career ITA Southern Regional titles in singles and doubles, respectively
  • Aguiard dominated the regional singles draw for the second consecutive year, after winning the tournament and advancing to the national championship in 2022
  • Planinsek was named the 2021 ITA Southern Regional Doubles Champion, earning the title alongside UA alum Juan Martin
  • The nation’s top-32 singles players and doubles tandems are set to take part in the championship tournament
  • Players participating in the tournament qualified through ITA Regional Championships, ITA All-American Championships, Milwaukee Tennis Classic and the ITA Cup

Georgia Tech Invite

  • Alabama will send members to compete in the team’s fifth event this fall
  • UA has had competitors battle in the SEC–Big Ten Challenge, Big 12–SEC Challenge, Alabama Four-In-The-Fall, ITA All-American Championships and ITA Southern Regional Championships
  • The Tide is coming off a strong showing at the ITA Southern Regional Championships, securing three of four spots in the semifinals of the singles bracket with Planinsek and Matias Ponce De Leon competing alongside Aguiard
  • Additionally, the doubles pairing of Roan Jones and Ponce De Leon earned a spot in the quarterfinals of the paired event
