Alabama Men’s Tennis Finishes Day One of Alabama Four-In-The-Fall


TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Zach Foster paced the Alabama men’s tennis team Friday on the opening day of the Alabama Four-In-The-Fall Tournament at the Alabama Tennis Stadium. 

Foster and his partner Joao Ferreira have earned a spot in the semifinal round, competing as a pair at the tournament. Doubles pairings advance by winning two of three matches from either the doubles match or the two singles matches played against the opposing pair of players.  

Foster and Ferreira opened the day with 6-4 doubles win, downing Georgia’s Britton Johnston and Miguel Perez Pena.

Foster followed the doubles victory with a win in singles, going two sets against Johnston. The UA sophomore opened the match with a 6-2 first-set score, before following with a 6-4 score in the second set for the win. 

Additionally, Roan Jones continued his hot start to his collegiate career with his fourth-straight singles win after taking a 6-0, 6-4 victory against Louisville’s Andre Steinbach. Jones went undefeated at the Bobby Bayliss Invitational, hosted by Notre Dame, recording three singles wins at the event.

UA will return to action Saturday for day two of the Alabama Four-In-The-Fall with matches beginning at 11:30 a.m. CT at the Alabama Tennis Stadium.

Roan Jones (Alabama) def. Andre Steinbach (Louisville) 6-0, 6-4

Thomas Paulsell (Georgia) def. Joao Ferreira (Alabama) 6-4, 6-4

Zach Foster (Alabama) def. Britton Johnston (Georgia) 6-2, 6-4
