CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Duke’s Garrett Johns earned Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week honors, while Louisville’s duo of Natan Rodrigues and Etienne Donnet was named the Doubles Team of the Week. Virginia’s Dylan Dietrich claimed his second Freshman of the Week nod of the season.
Johns clinched both matches for No. 15 Duke against Yale and No. 11 Kentucky in his and the Blue Devils’ undefeated weekend. The Atlanta native helped secure Duke’s first win over Kentucky since 2020. He earned a straight set, ranked win over No. 73 Theo Dean in Duke’s 6-1 win over Yale. After his 4-0 weekend, Johns improves to 5-1 in dual singles action and 6-2 in dual doubles play this season.
Rodrigues and Donnet earned a ranked win this weekend over the No. 4 ranked pair in the country from No. 4 Harvard in a thrilling 7-6 match on Sunday. The Cards’ duo won the match after being tied at 4-all in the tiebreaker by securing the final three points of the tiebreaker to claim the match and the doubles point for Louisville in its narrow 4-3 setback. Earlier in the weekend, Rodrigues and Donnet also handily defeated the top doubles pair from Cornell 6-1.
Dietrich clinched the doubles point with Alex Kiefer for No. 6 Virginia over No. 24 Georgia on court three to help the Cavaliers to a 4-0 sweep of the Bulldogs. On Court 2, the Zurich, Switzerland, native turned in a dominant straight set 6-2, 6-2, performance in the Cavaliers’ lone match of the week.
