EUGENE, Ore. (Nov. 3, 2024) – Senior Hania Abouelsaad and sophomore Martina Markov each posted straight-set wins to lead Washington State during the final day of play Sunday at the Duck Invitational at the Student Tennis Center.
With only singles being contested Sunday, the Cougars faced Boise State, winning two of the five matches. Abouelsaad had no trouble in her match, dropping just one game in a 6-1, 6-0 win over Lorelyz Muraffo. Markov was equally impressive in a 6-3, 6-2 win over Paula Schaeffer.
The three other matches all went three sets with Boise State winning each of those.
WSU concludes its fall season this week when three players, Eva Alvarez Sande, Maxine Murphy and Elyse Tse all compete at the ITA Sectional Tournament in Los Angeles, beginning Nov. 7.
