A Pair of All-Americans – Stanford University Athletics

STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford featured a pair of ITA All-Americans in singles, as senior Angelica Blake and sophomore Alexandra Yepifanova both earned national honors for the first time in their careers.

The honorific “All-American” title is given to student-athletes that earn a top 16 seed in the NCAA singles championship, advance to the round of 16 at the NCAA Championship, or finish in the top 20 of the final ITA singles rankings. The All-American status is awarded to doubles teams that earn a top-eight seed into the NCAA championship, reach the NCAA championship quarterfinals, or finish in the top 10 of the final ITA doubles rankings.

Blake and Yepifanova both advanced to the round of 16 at the NCAA Singles Championship, with Blake making a run to the quarterfinals. Blake finished the season ranked 21st nationally, while Yepifanova checked in at 28th to end the year. The duo make up Stanford’s first multi-All-America campaign since Emily Arbuthnott and Michaela Gordon both earned honors in singles and doubles in 2018.

Blake constructed her strongest season yet, finishing the year 36-7 overall, including 20-2 in dual matches, with a 16-0 mark on court three. Her only dual match losses this spring were on court one, a pair of three-set defeats in Los Angeles. She featured a 15-match win streak from late March until her loss in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Singles Championship.

Yepifanova, the Pac-12 Singles Player of the Year, finished with a 36-8 record overall in singles play, going 21-3 in dual matches, primarily on court one. Until her loss to UCLA’s Fangran Tian in the NCAA Singles Round of 16, Yepifanova had gone undefeated against Pac-12 opponents the entire season, and totaled a team-high 14 victories over ranked opponents.
