STILLWATER, Okla. – Duke redshirt senior Garrett Johns and sophomore Pedro Rodenas teamed up at the 2024 NCAA Doubles Championship on Monday at the Greenwood Tennis Center and earned their first win of the national tournament.
The duo secured a 6-3 victory over No. 20 Casey Hoole and Toby Samuel of South Carolina in their opening set before registering an impressive 7-6 (9) tiebreak win in the second frame to claim the overall win.
With their straight set victory, the Blue Devils’ top doubles pairing advanced to Wednesday’s round of 16. The No. 1 overall seed in the tournament will next match up with No. 10 Isaac Becroft and Tyler Zink of Oklahoma State at 2:30 p.m. (1:30 p.m. CT) in their second match.
