LOS ANGELES – Due to rain in the area, USC men’s tennis was forced to suspend play against No. 20 Arizona State on Saturday, March 24. USC led 2-1 when play was suspended.
ASU got the early lead in doubles as Murphy Cassone/Jacob Bullard downed USC’s Samuel Rubell and Niroop Vallabhaneni 6-1 on court two. On center court, the No. 62 ranked Sun Devil duo of Bor Artnak and Max McKennon defeated Peter Makk and Lodewijk Weststrate 6-3 to haul in the doubles point.
Moving into singles play, only two Trojans would finish their matches before play was suspended as Karl Lee and Samuel Rubell defeated their respective Sun Devil opponents. First to finish was Karl Lee on court four who beat ASU’s Jacob Bullard 6-4, 7-5 to bring the score to one-point all. Shortly thereafter, Rubell downed Sun Devil Roi Ginat 6-3, 7-5 on court five to put USC out in front.
With lightning and rain in the area, play was then suspended on the remaining courts.
Troy is back in action on Friday, March 29 at 5 p.m. as the Trojans host crosstown rival UCLA for a major Pac-12 match up.
