Jessica Alsola and the Bears have hosted just one home dual match thus far this season.
BERKELEY – The California women’s tennis team – ranked No. 10 in Tuesday’s ITA poll – will play three opponents in three days this week in the cozy confines of the Hellman Tennis Complex. The Golden Bears open against Hawaii in a nonconference contest Thursday Thursday – marking just their second home dual match of the season – before returning to Pac-12 Conference play with matches against Colorado and No. 45 Utah on Friday and Saturday, respectively.

The then-12th-ranked Golden Bears defeated 15th-ranked San Diego, 4-3, on Saturday but lost to fourth-ranked Pepperdine, 6-1, on Sunday in a nonconference road trip.
The win over USD ran Cal’s win streak to six, as senior Valentina Ivanov beat Elizabeth Goldsmith at court-two singles, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3, to secure the victory and her first clinching win of the season. Earlier, the 14th-ranked Mao Mushika and Hannah Viller Moeller bested Goldsmith and Mia Mack, 6-4, on court one to clinch the doubles point.
In Malibu, Cal junior Lan Mi earned her team-best 29th singles win of the season when she topped Pepperdine’s Vivian Yang, 7-5, 7-6(5), at court-six singles. But the Waves clinched their victory when the 100th-ranked Janice Tjen beat Cal’s 35th-ranked Jessica Alsola, 6-4, 6-4, on court three.
