CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Wake Forest swept this week’s Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Tennis awards with Casie Wooten earning her second Player of the Week nod and Brooke Killingsworth and Marcella Cruz claiming Doubles Team of the Week honors.
Wooten recorded the highest ranked-win of her career and first over a top-five ranked opponent in No. 3 Ayana Akli of nationally-ranked South Carolina. The Torrance, California, native was undefeated in singles over the weekend with a straight-set win over Campbell on Court 1. She added a doubles win in Wake Forest’s win over the Fighting Camels with last week’s Freshman of the Week Krystal Blanch.
Killingsworth and Cruz took down No. 27 Ayana Akli and Olympe Lancelot of South Carolina in a 6-3 victory in the Demon Deacons’ slight 4-3 setback against the Gamecocks.
