SEATTLE –
After nearly a month away, the Husky men’s tennis team is finally back on home footing this weekend. Washington returns with a big non-conference showdown this Saturday, Feb. 17, against the Arkansas Razorbacks. First serve will be at 1 p.m. inside the Nordstrom Tennis Center.
The Huskies (3-4) have been on the road since Jan. 20 and now spend the next few weeks at home, with a string of home matches against Arkansas, Portland (Feb. 23), Gonzaga (Feb. 25), and Oregon (Mar. 7).
The next set of rankings is a week away, so the Huskies are still represented in the doubles poll by Dzianis Zharyn and Cesar Bouchelaghem, who remain at a career-high No. 10.
UW is looking to get back in the win column after falling in its last two road matches, both at Top-20 opponents, in a 1-4 loss at No. 11 Michigan and a 1-6 loss at No. 18 San Diego. The one UW point in both matches was earned by senior Han-Chih Lin, who has won three straight singles matches at the No. 3 spot.
Arkansas has a 6-2 mark thus far, and has won its past two matches, defeating Drake and earning a 4-3 road win at Nebraska. The Razorbacks had a 3-4 loss to No. 25-ranked Memphis, and a 1-6 loss to Middle Tennessee State. Melvin Manuel is ranked 107th nationally in singles for Arkansas. Last year, Washington traveled to Fayetteville and Arkansas earned a 4-2 victory at the Billingsley Tennis Center.
