MILWAUKEE — The Wisconsin men’s tennis team competed in its second tournament of the fall season this past weekend as it faced off in the Milwaukee Tennis Classic. Wisconsin was matched up against competitors from SMU, Nebraska, Navy, South Alabama, Yale, Western Michigan, Marquette and Denver.
Four members from the Badger squad made the quick trip east to Milwaukee with this weekend’s roster was composed of Gabriel Huber, Michael Minasyan, Tomas Zlatohlavek and Collin Beduhn. Wisconsin brought a mix of experience in the No. 12-ranked doubles pair of Huber and Minasyan while also adding in some fresh faces with Zlatohlavek and Beduhn. All players partook in both doubles and singles tournament play.
Competing in his first tournament of the season, Huber showed off his four years of experience, winning three singles matches, the most of anyone on the Badger roster, as well as one doubles match with Minasyan. The doubles pair won their first match back on the court together, 6-2, against Blake Roegner and Tin Krstulovic of Marquette to kickoff the weekend.
The Milwaukee Tennis Classic was Zlatohlavek’s first collegiate competition, and after dropping his first match to Louis Cloud (SMU) 6-4, 6-1, the freshman earned two wins against Leo Lopez Linquet (Nebraska) 6-3, 6-3 and Tin Krstulovic (Marquette) 6-3, 6-3.
