Women's Tennis Sees Three Winners On Opening Weekend


Chapel Hill, N.C. – After three days of competition, the North Carolina women’s tennis team boasted two singles bracket winners along with a doubles bracket winner at the Kitty Harrison Invitational.

In singles play, Reese Brantmeier defeated Auburn’s Selin Ovunc, 2-6, 6-4, 6-3 to win the “Navy” singles bracket. In the “White” bracket, Carson Tanguilig won 6-1, 7-5 over Vanderbilt’s Bridget Stammel. Each Tar Heel recorded a 4-0 record over the course of the weekend.

In doubles play, the NCAA Doubles runners-up Reese Brantmeier and Elizabeth Scotty picked up where they left off at the conclusion of the 2023 season. The duo rolled through the “Tar” doubles bracket with a 3-0 record.

This week, the Tar Heels will play in the Wolfpack Invitational hosted by NC State in Cary, N.C.
