TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama men’s tennis alum Patrick Kaukovalta was selected to represent Finland at the Davis Cup. The competition will be split across four cities, Bologna, Manchester, Split and Valencia, and will run from September 12-17.
The Tournament
- 16 teams will compete in the group stage of the tournament
- Finland will face Croatia, the United States and the Netherlands as a member of Group D
- Competition for Group D will take place in Split, Croatia
- The top-two teams from each group will advance to the Final 8 in Malaga, Spain
About Kaukovalta
- The former Crimson Tide standout won the singles title at the M15 Budapest pro event, winning five consecutive matches on his way to the crown, and the M15 Hyvinkaa doubles crown with four wins
- Additionally, he reached the quarterfinals at the M25 Lodz in singles and back-to-back semifinal appearances in doubles at the M15 Vaasa and Tampere Challenger 75
- In college, he was the 2019 NCAA Doubles National Championship runner-up
- Named a doubles All-American and ITA Collegiate All-Star Team in 2019
- Competed with Alabama from 2018-2022
