Women's Tennis Earns Program-Record No. 2 National Seed in NCAA Tournament - Texas A&M Athletics

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION–The SEC champion Texas A&M women’s tennis team earned a program-record No. 2 seed in the NCAA Championships and will host first- and second-round action at the Mitchell Tennis Center, the selection committee announced Monday.

The 27-2 Aggies will face Quinnipiac in the first round on Friday at 1 p.m. SMU and Baylor will face off in the other first-round matchup on Friday at 10 a.m.

The two winners will meet on Saturday at 1 p.m. with a trip to the Super Regional round on the line. Super Regionals will be played on campus the weekend of May 12 with the winner advancing to the NCAA Championships final site at the USTA National Campus in Orlando.

“We’re very excited to be back home,” head coach Mark Weaver said. “That’s something we worked for all year. I worked very hard on the schedule this year, we had a very challenging out of conference schedule and when you combine that with a very difficult SEC schedule (our goal was to be) a top-eight seed to host the first three rounds. We were the No. 2 seed, and we’re very proud of the two seed there. We did a lot of traveling this semester, we were gone most of the month of February, so we’re very happy to be sleeping in our own beds playing on these courts.”
