No. 1 Seed Women's Tennis To Face Wake Forest

The Lead: After an undefeated regular season, the Tar Heels enter the ACC Championship as the top overall seed and earned a double bye in the ACC Championship. North Carolina will face the winner of Notre Dame and Wake Forest on Friday morning in the quarterfinals. First serve is set for 10 a.m. at the Cary Tennis Park in Cary, N.C.

Storylines:

  • With a win last weekend, UNC recorded its 27th victory in a row. 27 consecutive victories is the second-longest winning streak in program history.

  • North Carolina enters the weekend ranked No. 1 for the ninth consecutive week.

  • The Tar Heels recorded a perfect 15-0 record at home for the third consecutive season after beating No. 3 Duke last Friday.


From the Notes: Last week, Fiona Crawley won her 113th singles match as a Tar Heel. She is now only two singles victories shy of entering the top-10 for all-time singles victories at UNC.


Switching Sides:

  • Last weekend, Wake Forest went 1-1 after defeating Virginia Tech 5-2 and dropping its match to No. 9 Virginia 4-1. 

  • The Wake Forest doubles duo of Anna Brylin and Brooke Killingsworth enters the ACC Championship ranked 18th.

  • Notre Dame enters the ACC Championship with a 15-9 record.

  • The Irish picked up two victories last weekend. Last Friday, Notre Dame beat Syracuse 4-2 and defeated Boston College on Sunday, 5-2.
