WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Purdue men’s tennis team honored seniors Michal Wozniak and Tomasz Dudek Sunday as they dropped their final home match 0-4 to No. 6 Michigan.
Leading off the match, the Boilermakers fell early to the top-ranked Wolverines at No. 2 and 3, but to Purdue’s delight No. 1 duo Daniel Labrador/Tomasz Dudek led the No. 8 doubles team in the nation.
Labrador/Dudek have had success against ranked opponents this year after they upset Indiana’s No. 70 pair earlier this season. The Boilers maintained their spot in the drivers seat throughout their match. Labrador/Dudek took the first game and continued to push the envelope when Michigan rallied.
Purdue’s top team was on pace for their second ranked win over a doubles opponent this year, and first-ever win over a top-10 doubles opponent when the Wolverines clinched the doubles point.
In between doubles and singles, the Boilermakers honored seniors Michal Wozniak and Tomasz Dudek. Wozniak, a graduate in Kinesiology, amassed over 60 career wins as a Boilermaker but ultimately fell to No. 11 Andrew Fenty in his final home match.
Tomasz Dudek, a former 2020 ITA Ohio Valley Freshman of the Year, had his final match go unfinished as the Wolverines clinched the match in his second set. Dudek will graduate with a degree in industrial management and was a 3x Academic All-Big Ten honoree in his time as a Boilermaker.
Purdue ultimately fell to No. 6 Michigan when they took Nos. 2, 3, and 6 in singles to shut out the Boilers for the fifth time this season in conference play.
