TEMPE – Sun Devil Men’s Tennis is back at home this week hosting the Los Angeles schools. Arizona State will take on USC on Friday, March 3, at 6 p.m. MST and No. 37 UCLA on Sunday, April 2, at 12 p.m. at Whiteman Tennis Center in Tempe. Both matches will be streamed on ASU Live Stream 2 and on Statbroadcast.
Previewing the Sun Devils
ASU is 11-6 so far this season, with a 9-1 home record. The Sun Devils are coming off a couple of tough losses in the Bay Area and are looking to get back in the win column this weekend.
The last time the Sun Devils played in Tempe was when they went 2-1 in the Diablos Tennis Tournament at Kiwanis Park, with wins coming against Liberty and Oregon.
Sophomore Murphy Cassone is No. 48 in the ITA singles rankings while Cassone and junior Jacob Bullard are ranked No. 77 for doubles.
The Trojans
USC owns a 10-5 record this season and is coming off a two-game losing streak. The Trojans have wins against No. 24 UCLA, No. 15 Florida, No. 13 Georgia and No. 12. UNC. USC currently has three players ranked in the ITA singles ranking. Sophomore Peter Makk is ranked No. 26, senior Stefan Dostanic is No. 32, and graduate student Bradley Frye is sitting at No. 124. Dostanic and Frye are also ranked No. 21 in the doubles rankings.
The Bruins
Unranked, UCLA is currently sitting at an 8-4 record this season and is coming off a win against Oklahoma State. The Bruins are 7-2 at home, but own an 0-2 record on the road. This is the first time UCLA played ASU since 2021 with the Sun Devils winning that match, 4-3.
What to Know
The first 150 fans at Friday’s game against USC will receive free Chick-fil-a and a free ASU tennis t-shirt while the first 150 fans at Sunday’s game against UCLA will receive free In-N-Out. Sunday will also feature a raffle for a Yeti and bucket hat(s).
