No. 17 Wisconsin tops Michigan State, 5-0

EAST LANSING, Mich. – The No. 17 Wisconsin women’s tennis team (14-4) bounced back in a big way on Sunday against Michigan State (8-8). The Badgers took down the Spartan 5-0 to added another Big Ten win to their record. 
 
It was an all-around dominant performance from the Badgers, who won the doubles point behind convincing wins from duo No. 65 Maria Sholokhova and Ava Markham along with duo Xinyu Cai and Alina Mukhortova. Cai and Mukhortova started the day off strong with a win against Liisa Vehvilainen and Ayshe Can, 6-4. Sholokhova and Markham then took down Marley Lambert and Dagmar Zdrubecka 7-6 (7-2) to put Wisconsin up 1-0.
 
The Badgers carried their momentum into the singles matches, winning four straight. No. 92 Sholohova kicked off the action by defeating Lambert 6-3, 6-1, followed by Charmaine Seah beating Mukherjee 6-2, 6-3. Taylor Cataldi beat Nicole Conard 6-2, 6-5 to put the team up 4-0, sealing the win for the Badgers. No. 113 Cai sweetened the deal with her win against Juliette Nask, 6-3, 6-4.
 
Wisconsin next travels to College Park, Maryland on April 2 for another Big Ten game against No. 50 Maryland. First serve is set for 10:30 a.m. (CT).
