COLUMBUS, Ohio – Oregon men’s tennis fell short to Ohio State today in the ITA Kick-Off. Three matches went unfinished, with the Ducks in contention in all three.
OSU led early with a doubles win on court three, while Oregon was going the distance on both one and two. Joshua Charlton and Quinn Vandecasteele won a tough contest on court one to even things up. The 7-6 (7-5) win was much needed. Shortly after, Ray Lo and Ivailo Keremedchiev dropped their match 7-5 to hand the Buckeyes the point.
Freshman Vlad Breazu faced a tough foe in spot No. 4 in singles, falling 6-3, 6-1, giving OSU a 2-0 advantage. Vandecasteele was soon-met with the same fate, dropping his match 6-2, 6-2. The Buckeyes clinched on court six when Ray Lo was defeated 6-1, 6-1.
Charlton, Keremedchiev and Klov-Nilsson’s matches would go unfished. Charlton was narrowly defeated in the first set 7-5, Keremedchiev dropped the first to No. 5 ranked JJ Tracy, but was tied at 4-4 in the second, and Klov-Nilsson was in the second set after dropping the first 7-5.
