The UNF Invitational marks the final weekend of fall competition for UF women’s tennis.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Florida women’s tennis team will conclude the fall portion of their schedule this weekend when the head to North Florida for the UNF Invitational on Saturday and Sunday.
Matches on Saturday, Nov. 12, will begin at 9 a.m. ET with one doubles match followed by two singles matches, while Sunday’s competition will begin at 9 a.m. with two doubles matches, followed by one singles match.
LAST TIME OUT
At the Miami Fall Invite, the Gators captured wins in head-to-head singles matchups against Kentucky and Northwestern. The Orange & Blue also split with Northwestern in doubles play before the final day of competition was cancelled due to rain.
For the tournament as a whole, Florida captured 11 singles victories and three doubles victories.
PRESEASON ITA RANKINGS
A pair of Gators find themselves ranked in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association preseason rankings that was revealed on Sept. 6. In singles competition, Alicia Dudeney entered the rankings tied for 119th while Dudeney and freshman Rachel Gailis are ranked 50th in doubles.
BABY GATOR
The Gators welcomed Qavia Lopez to Gator Nation on Thursday, Nov. 10, when she officially signed her National Letter of Intent with UF. Lopez, a 5-foot-7 native of Delray Beach, Fla., is the Babolat No. 1 recruit in the nation, in addition to earning five-star and blue-chip honors. She owns a career-best International Tennis Federation ranking of No. 19.
