CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Penn State men’s tennis team continued play at the 2022 ITA Atlantic Regionals in the Gold Singles and Doubles Draw on Saturday morning.
SINGLES
Miko Eala and Sam Bossem started Gold Draw singles action in the round of 64. Eala faced off against the third-ranked Jeffery von der Schulenberg from Virginia, where he fell 6-3, 6-4. Bossem was defeated by VCU’s Maxence Bertimon 7-5, 6-4. Both Nittany Lions will compete in a consolation round on Sunday, Oct. 23.
DOUBLES
In doubles, partners Bossem and Malik Bhatnagar and Eala and Charl Morgan took part in the Gold Doubles Draw. Bossem and Bhatnagar lost to Richmond’s Daniel Kliebhan and William Karpinski, 8-4. Taking on Gray Voelzke and Sam Baumgartner from VCU, Eala and Morgan fell 8-5.
In the Gold Draw Doubles consolation, Eala and Morgan collected Penn State’s first win of the day over Old Dominion’s Nicola Vidal and Francois Le Tallec, 8-6.
NEXT UP
Bossem will face Beau Pelletier of Liberty, while Eala takes on Manuel Goncalves in the Gold consolation round on Sunday, Oct. 23.
