ATHENS, Ga. – Northwestern women’s tennis will make its 26th consecutive appearance in the NCAA tournament. It marks the 32nd time in program history that the Wildcats are competing.

Northwestern will battle Wake Forest in the first round of the tournament in Saturday, May 7 at 9 am CT. Joining the Wildcats and the Demon Deacons in the Athens Regional are Charleston Southern and No. 14 overall seed Georgia. The winner of each site advances to the Super Regional competition on May 13 and 14. The super-regional winners advance to the Khan Outdoor Tennis Complex in Champaign, Illinois, where the eight teams will compete for the national championship May 20-22. The event will be hosted by the University of Illinois.

Since head coach Claire Pollard took over, the program has qualified for the national tournament in every season dating back to 1999. The Wildcats have advanced to at least round of 16 on 14 occasions during the current stretch. NU has played in the national quarterfinals three times.

Last week the ‘Cats defeated Nebraska before falling to Michigan in the quarterfinals in the Big Ten tournament. The ‘Cats are now 14-9 in the season.
