CARY, N.C. — Tennessee women’s tennis standout Elza Tomase advanced to the Final Four of the 2024 ITA All-American Championships on Friday afternoon at Cary Tennis Park.
No. 62 Tomase began her day in the main draw Round of 16, in which she faced No. 16 Grace Piper from USC. The senior secured a 6-4, 6-4 victory, earning her a spot in the quarterfinals. There, she claimed a 2-6, 6-3, 6-2 triumph against Stanford’s No. 69 Valerie Glozman. Tomase is scheduled to face No. 43 Theodora Rabman from North Carolina in the semifinals on Saturday at 11:30 a.m.
The Liepaja, Latvia, native has tallied four victories against ranked opponents thus far in the competition. Tomase is one of two SEC players who have clinched a spot in the singles semifinals, joining Auburn’s DJ Bennett.
Also in the singles Round of 16, No. 81 Catherine Aulia dropped her match to Oklahoma State’s Oby Ange Kajuru in a 5-7, 2-6 defeat. Aulia will play in the singles consolation draw against Georgia’s No. 2 Dasha Vidmanova Saturday at 10:30 a.m.
