Zharyn, Bouchelaghem Add Top-20 Doubles Win

TULSA, Okla. — For the second straight day, Husky doubles duo Dzianis Zharyn and Cesar Bouchelaghem picked up a big ranked doubles win, as they continue moving forward in the backdraw of the ITA All-American Championships. Today they earned a top-20 victory over a 19th-ranked tandem from Ohio State.

Zharyn and Bouchelaghem, ranked 10th in the fall preseason poll, are into the consolation semifinals in Tulsa. They dropped their season opener in the main draw first round on Wednesday, but have now bounced back with consecutive big wins. Yesterday they beat a Georgia duo ranked 33rd nationally, and today they topped Kim/Bernard of OSU in a third set 10-point breaker. The teams split the first two sets, each winning 6-4, but UW dominated the tiebreak, winning the first six points in a row en route to a 10-2 victory.

Now the Huskies will face Suresh/Delgado of Wake Forest on Saturday. Match time has not yet been determined.
