CARY, N.C. – Washington State junior Eva Alvarez Sande captured her final match at the 2024 All-American Championships Tuesday, winning in straight sets in her consolation round at the Cary Tennis Club.
After falling Monday in the first round of the qualifying draw, Alvarez Sande rebounded Tuesday with a 6-1, 7-5 win over Texas A&M’s Jeanette Mireles in a consolation match. Mireles entered the match ranked No. 88 nationally.
The win ended Alvarez Sande’s time at the All-American’s, going 4-1 over four days. She captured three victories in the prequalifying draw to advance to the qualifying round. Then went 1-1 in qualifying.
Cougar Tennis has a busy schedule this weekend. Alvarez Sane and Maxine Murphy are scheduled to compete at the Milwaukee Tennis Classic, Sept. 27-29, while the rest of the team will host the WSU Hidden Duals event in Pullman, Sept. 27-29.
