CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Seventh-ranked NC State women’s tennis (17-3, 8-2 ACC) dropped only its third match of the season to No. 1 UNC (25-0, 11-0 ACC) on the road.
In doubles play, No. 11 Nell Miller and Amelia Rajecki paired back up on court one but gave up the first win to UNC.
The graduate student and freshman, Alana Smith and Anna Zyryanova, proved worthy yet again on court three as they took the only doubles win for the Pack with a commanding 6-2 finish.
After a lengthy back-and-forth doubles competition, the Tar Heels took the point when Sophie Abrams and Abigail Rencheli fell 3-6 on court two against UNC’s No. 6 Tanguilig and Crawley.
NC State faced ranked opponents on all six courts during singles play, with five out of the six of those players being among the top-30 in the country.

The play was continued outside while courts six, three, and four finished but another lightning delay was called moving the final singles matches to be moved indoors.
NC State forced three out of the six courts to a third set to try and make a comeback but they were ultimately unable.
