#7 Women’s Tennis Beats Boston College 7-0

RALEIGH – Seventh-ranked NC State women’s tennis (17-2, 8-1 ACC) added another conference win under its belt with a 7-0 sweep over No. 45 Boston College (10-9, 3-8 ACC).

The Wolfpack went perfect for the day as they tabbed all possible wins in doubles and singles. Doubles lineups showed some pairings from earlier in the season that proved they were still able to clinch the point.

Alana Smith and Anna Zyryanova, graduate student and freshman pair on court three set the tone for the day as they finished 6-1 over Boston College’s Sophie Edwards and Stephanie Sanchez. Although they dropped the first game on court two, Sophie Abrams and Abigail Rencheli turned the tides to come back and dominate their opponents Seren Agar and Hailey Wilcox 6-2 to clinch the doubles point for the Wolfpack.

Play on court one with No. 19 Nell Miller and Amelia Rajecki was neck and neck throughout the match but was halted at a 4-4 score once the doubles point was secured

No. 114 Abrams breezed through to take the first singles win (6-0, 6-1) for the Wolfpack on court four with a near shutout over Muskan Mahajan. Leading 2-0, #24 Rajecki extended the lead to three with a 6-3, 6-2 victory on court two over Laura Lopez.

Freshman, Zyryanova stepped up to the plate yet again to take down her adversary in just two sets. She posted a 6-4, 6-3 win over Natalie Eordekian on court six to make the win for NC State official.

While No. 9 Smith jumped head on court one, Boston College’s No. 71 Marice Aguiar put up a fight in both sets to minimize her trail. Ultimately the red-and-white’s lead was advanced to 5-0 when Smith finished 6-4, 6-4.

Gina Dittmann posted a shutout in her first set over Seren Agar but allowed her to come back and take the second set, forcing a third. She was able to shut down the Eagle’s player in the final set to claim her victory 6-0, 4-6, 6-2.

To cap off the day, No. 58 Rencheli yet again displayed her grit on court three to submit the shutout for her team. Finishing in only two sets over Sophia Edwards she sent the Eagles home without any wins for the day when she picked up her triumph after fighting through a second set tiebreaker (6-4, 7-6 (8-6).
