#5/27 Sun Devils Head to Pac-12 Championships to face #4/10 Cal


TEMPE, Ariz.— Winners of six straight to close out the regular season, the No. 27 Sun Devils (14-8, 6-4 Pac-12) will head to the Pac-12 Championships in Ojai, California (April 25-27) at Weil Tennis Academy, owning the No. 5 seed in the tournament.
 
The Sun Devils earned a first-round bye and will play No. 4 California on Thursday, April 25 at 9 a.m. MST in the quarterfinals.
 
As the No. 5 seed in 2022, the Sun Devils stormed to the tournament final after consecutive upsets of USC and top-seeded Cal.

SUN DEVIL NOTABLES

  • With a 4-3 win over in-state rival Arizona in the regular season finale, the Sun Devils moved to 14-8 in the regular season as they have won six straight matches all against Pac-12 opponents (Oregon, Washington State, Washington, Utah, Colorado and Arizona).
  • Also in their home win against the Wildcats, it marks the 48th win in 54 matches for the Sun Devils at Whiteman Tennis Center since 2021.
  • Heading into the postseason, the Sun Devils are currently ranked No. 27 nationally in the team polls, while having Patricija Spaka/Chelsea Fontenel ranked in doubles (No. 35) and two top-125 singles players (No. 74 Giulia Morlet, No. 108 Emilija Tverijonaite).
  • Tverijonaite has been terrific for the Sun Devils this spring, as she leads the team with 14 wins in singles play. She has an 8-2 record playing primarily on Court 4, but has excelled when moved up to Court 3 (5-1).
  • In addition to the duo of Spaka/Fontenel that has 10 wins this season, the Sun Devils have gotten boosts on Courts 2 and 3 as the duos of Morlet/Sara Svetac plus Marianna Argyrokastriti/Tverijonaite have each attributed nine doubles wins this season.
