#20 Tennessee Sweeps Mizzou, 4-0

COLUMBIA, Mo.  – The No. 20 Tennessee Women’s tennis team claimed its fifth consecutive win with a 4-0 sweep at Missouri on Sunday morning at the Country Club of Missouri. The Lady Volunteers registered their 10th doubles point of the year and then tacked on three singles victories to complete their second SEC win of the season.

“Our team got better today,” head coach Alison Ojeda said. ” We faced a lot of different situations and we came out on the plus side in all of them. Mentally and emotionally we are tough.”

Tennessee (10-2, 2-0 SEC) got rolling early by picking up back-to-back doubles wins, capturing a 1-0 edge against Missouri (3-10, 0-2 SEC). Lauren Anzalotta and Catherine Aulia struck first, tallying a 6-2 decision against Roma Cardenas Rifa and Gabriela Martinez. Eleonora Molinaro and Leyla Britez Risso clinched the doubles point with a 6-2 victory over Andrea Artimedi and Emelie Schwarte. The No. 40-ranked pair of Elza Tomase and Sofia Cabezas were stopped at a score of 5-2 against the No. 2-ranked duo of Inah Canete and Mae Canete due to the other courts finishing first.

“We were very strong emotionally and physically today,” Aulia stated. “It was a very tough match given the windy conditions, but we did what we had to do. We got on and off the courts and we were locked in the entire time.”

After delivering a convincing doubles point, the Big Orange locked up three singles wins from a trio of members. Sophomore Britez Risso claimed a 6-0, 6-2 win over Roma Cardenas Rifka. Aulia registered a 6-2, 6-3 triumph against Emelie Schwartz. Wolfberg added the final point by defeating Gabriela Martinez, 6-1, 6-3.
