STANFORD, Calif. – #44 Arizona was blanked 7-0 by #15 Stanford on Friday, March 31 at the Taube Tennis Center in their fourth conference match of the season.
In doubles play, Salma Ziouti/Reece Carter fell to Stanford’s Sara Choy/Alexandra Yepifanova 6-2 on court two. Connie Ma/Valencia Xu secured the doubles point when they beat Midori Castillo/Belen Nevenhoven 6-1 on court three, leaving the third match between Parker Fry/Kayla Wilkins and #62 Angelica Blake/Alexis Blokhina unfinished.
Stanford continued their success into single plays when #33 Alexandra Yepifanova won over Midori Castillo 6-2, 6-0. Wildcat Wilkins fell to Valencia Xu 6-1, 6-0 on court five and #84 Alexis Blokhina clinched the match for the Cardinals by defeating Lexi Ryngler 6-1, 6-4 on court four. Sara Choy won over Parker Fry 6-2, 6-3 on court six. In a tiebreaker set on court two, #28 Angelica Blake defeated Salma Ziouti 6-1, 7-6(5). Freshman Reece Carter started strong in court one going 6-7(5) against #12 Connie Ma but fell once Ma took the win 6-4 in the second set and a 10-6 tiebreaker in the third set.
The Wildcats stand 14-8 overall and are now 1-3 in Pac-12 play. They are back in action against #52 Cal scheduled for Saturday, April 1 at 12 p.m. MT in Berkley, Calif.
