PULLMAN, Wash. (May 4, 2024) – Washington State University Athletics honored its senior student-athletes at its annual Senior Recognition Luncheon Friday afternoon at the Alger Family Club Room at Gesa Field.
The luncheon highlighted the academic and athletic contributions of this year’s senior class of Cougar student-athletes.
The Pac-12 Conference Tom Hansen Conference Medal recipients are Charlisse Leger-Walker (women’s basketball) and Brennan Jackson (football). The conference medal winners are those who best reflect the greatest combination of performance and achievement in athletics, scholarship and leadership, as selected by the athletic director and senior administrative staff.
Thirty-five student-athletes were recognized for the Senior Excellence in Academics Award, given to seniors who have earned a minimum of 90 credits with at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA, been members of the WSU Athletics All-Academic Team each semester, enrolled at WSU for at least two years, and excelled in their degree program and sport program. This year’s recipients are Andrew Baughn (baseball), Chase Grillo (baseball), Jack Lee (baseball), Jacob Morrow (baseball), Grant Taylor (baseball), AJ Rohosy (men’s basketball), Simon Samarzich (football), Preston Bebich (men’s golf), Blake Deringer (men’s track & field), Pascal Kleyer (men’s track & field), Jared McAlvey (men’s track & field), Ethan Willems (men’s track & field), Eleanor Curtright (rowing), Ella Greenslade (rowing), Audrey Gulig (rowing), Mackenzie Shipley (rowing), Ainsley Tiernan (rowing), Sydney Wick (rowing), Bridget Rieken (soccer), Marin Wheildon (soccer), Hailey Grotte (swimming), Josie Liebzeit (swimming), Kiana Swain (swimming), Kaya Takashige (swimming), Alex Vartiainen (swimming), Karley Basham (volleyball), Magdalena Jehlarova (volleyball), Jasmine Martin (volleyball), Weronika Wojdyla (volleyball), Ekin Celikdemir (women’s basketball), Jessica Clarke (women’s basketball), Charlisse Leger-Walker (women’s basketball), Johanna Teder (women’s basketball), Jasneet Nijjar (women’s track & field), Eise Unruh-Thomas (women’s track & field).
