Women’s Tennis to Open Fall Slate This Weekend in Chapel Hill


DURHAM, N.C. – The Duke women’s tennis team is set to open the 2024 fall slate this weekend as the Blue Devils compete in the Kitty Harrison Invitational from Sept. 13-15 at the Chewning Tennis Center in Chapel Hill. 
 
The schedule of play will feature Duke against Penn State beginning on Friday, Sept. 13 at 9:30 a.m., on courts 1-6.  On Saturday, the Blue Devils will go up against Florida at 9:30 a.m., on courts 7-12 and on Sunday at 1:30 p.m., versus Old Dominion on courts 7-12. 
 
In the ITA preseason rankings, Duke owns six Blue Devils in the singles ledger — sophomore Shavit Kimchi (38), senior Emma Jackson (41), junior Katie Codd (49), senior Ellie Coleman (53) and sophomore Eleana Yu (73) were ranked.  Freshman Irina Balus was also listed No. 10 in the newcomer singles ledger.  Duke also featured two doubles teams ranked – Jackson/Yu (58) and Kimchi/Coleman (61). 
 
A total of seven Blue Devils are expected to compete this weekend – Jackson, Coleman, Codd, Kimchi, Yu, Balus and freshman Ava Krug
