DURHAM – The 10th-ranked Duke women’s tennis team will open ACC action this week as the Blue Devils (10-1) will travel to Virginia Tech (8-1) on Friday, Feb. 24 and 20th-ranked Virginia (6-2) on Sunday, Feb. 26 for a pair of matches on the road.  Both contests will feature a first serve of 1 p.m.

The Series with Virginia Tech

Duke and Virginia Tech will meet for the 29th time in school history with the Blue Devils leading the series, 26-2.  Of the two losses, one of them came in Blacksburg, Va., on March 6, 2016 (5-2).  In matches played at Virginia Tech, Duke holds an 8-1 ledger.  The Blue Devils are riding a five-match winning streak against the Hokies.  

Scouting Virginia Tech

Virginia Tech holds an 8-1 record heading into Friday’s match against the Blue Devils.  The Hokies have won three straight contests since dropping a 4-3 decision on the road at Charlotte.  Virginia Tech is a perfect, 8-0, record at home this season.  

Hey, I Know You

Duke will go up against Virginia Tech head coach Terry Ann Zawacki-Holdren for the 20th time in school history with the Blue Devils holding an 17-2 record against the coach.  Zawacki-Holdren is the sister of former Duke All-American Tory Zawacki, who competed for the Blue Devils from 2004-08.

The Series with Virginia

Duke and Virginia will meet on Sunday for the 74th time in school history with the Blue Devils leading the series, 64-9.  In matches played in Charlottesville, Va., Duke is 25-5.  The Blue Devils won both meetings a season ago, after dropping both contests in 2021.  

Scouting Virginia

Virginia will enter the weekend with a 6-2 ledger and will host North Carolina on Friday, Feb. 24 prior to hosting Duke on Sunday, Feb. 26.  So far this season, the Cavaliers are 5-0 at home.
